Lori C. Zorc, EdD, MS, RN, ANP-BC, is a graduate of Villanova University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She completed a master’s degree from the University of Rochester with a specialization in pediatric primary care and subsequently became a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner. While working at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC she cared for many children with nutritional issues related to their medical problems, prematurity, or development delays. She was the nurse coordinator for a multidisciplinary Feeding Disorder Team. She earned a Doctorate in Education through the School of Education and Human Development at George Washington University. She completed a post-master’s program through Catholic University and is a board-certified adult nurse practitioner. Lori joined Dr. Pennanen at the Chevy Chase Breast Center and now has over 15 years of experience caring for women with an array of benign breast problems and breast cancer. She is a certified nurse navigator through the National Consortium of Breast Centers and a member of the National Nursing Honor Society, Sigma Theta Tau.
Lori is a dedicated, knowledgeable nurse practitioner who provides patient education, support and case management to help patients navigate all aspects of care, from scheduling biopsies and surgery, coordinating services and appointments, answering questions, and informing patients about logistics, resources, and instructions. She coordinates support services such as physical therapy, psychosocial support, nutritional support, and fertility preservation. Dr. Pennanen and Lori work closely to coordinate all aspects of multidisciplinary care, including referrals for breast imaging, reconstructive surgery, radiation oncology, medical oncology, and genetic counseling.
Lori was a founding member of Living in Pink, an organization started over 15 years ago with a mission to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer research in the greater Washington area. When not caring for patients, Lori enjoys caring for her seven children. In her free time she enjoys reformer Pilates, reading, entertaining, cooking, and skiing.
